There are two BIM planning documents that are often confused with each other:
- BIM Implementation Plan; and
- BIM Execution Plan.
BIM Implementation Plan
When submitting capabilities documentation on a project involving BIM, a BIM implementation plan may be required.
This is a statement of your firms BIM capabilities to undertake the specific aspects of the project you are seeking to work on.
It would include details of the BIM software you use, any BIM training people have and other relevant information to help the BIM manager or the client to coordinate your role within the overall BIM team.
BIM Execution Plan
This is identified within PAS 1192-2 2012 – the standards for information delivery on BIM projects – as a plan of action that the project team undertake in order to deliver a BIM enabled construction project.
